Justin Sacks, MD, MBA

Board Member

Dr. Justin Sacks is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in head-to-toe trauma and oncologic reconstruction, with advanced expertise in microvascular reconstructive surgery.

He earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he also completed his combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency training. He went on to complete extensive fellowship training, including a two-year research fellowship in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a combined orthopedic/plastic surgery upper extremity fellowship, and a microvascular reconstructive surgery fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

After joining the faculty at MD Anderson, Dr. Sacks later served as Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and Director of Oncologic Reconstruction at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Since 2020, he has served as Director of Plastic Surgery at WashU Medicine.

Dr. Sacks’ research focuses on advancements in vascularized composite allotransplantation, tissue engineering, and vascular perfusion assessment. He is a biotech innovator and entrepreneur, serving as a cofounder of TissueLock and the Johns Hopkins startup Lifesprout, and his team has developed novel pressure-sensing technology aimed at reducing inpatient pressure sore development.

A prolific academic leader, Dr. Sacks has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and numerous textbook chapters, and he serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery.

In addition to his clinical and research leadership, Dr. Sacks is the Managing Director of PRS GO and PRS Global Open, and he plays an active role in organized plastic surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of ASPS and multiple reconstructive societies, and currently serves as Board Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
